Government of India and Government of Kerala is fiercely pursuing the goal of creating an enterprising India. In 2018, the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, in collaboration with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), introduced the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) program for Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) to inculcate innovations and entrepreneurial culture in higher education institutions (HEIs). The core mission of IICs is to systematically cultivate a culture of innovation and nurture a thriving start-up ecosystem within educational institutions. Specifically, IICs are tasked with engaging a substantial number of faculty, students, and staff in a wide array of innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities. These activities encompass ideation, problem-solving, proof of concept development, design thinking, intellectual property rights (IPR) management, and project handling and management during the pre-incubation and incubation stages. The IIC activities initiated at Viswajyothi College Engineering and Technology in the year 2020by forming the IIC council and assigning the responsibilities.

Objectives
The main objective of IIC at VJCET NISP is to raise entrepreneurship awareness among students, lay a solid foundation of knowledge on Entrepreneurship and to improve their entrepreneurial skills and abilities.
Startup Policy
VJCET Startup policy was prepared in line with national Innovation and Startup Policy-2019 for students and faculty, Ministry of Human resources and Development MHRD, Government of India , Kerala Technology Startup policy 2014, Government of Keralaand Kerala Technological University Startup policy 2015.

IIC Activities
The exhibition Science and technical Project fair was held on 25th and 26th November 2022. In today's world education is not only about learning and teaching in a classroom, it is more about practical awareness. The exhibition was open to students from other schools as well as to their parents. The event helped students to improve their presentation skills, to improve the teamwork of project group members and to develop innovative skills. It also gave students an exposure to the latest technologies in their respective fields.
The Institute’s Interaction Cell (IIC) of VJCET conducted a workshop on 1st December 2022 for first year students. The topic of the workshop was “Web Designing Using HTML”. The workshop was conducted with an aim to help first year students of CSE to understand how to use HTML and create web pages. The chief guest was Mr. Toby Jose, Technical Head of Progressive Software Solutions and Training, Muvattupuzha and Mr. Sooraj K.S., Senior Faculty of Progressive Software Solutions and Training, Muvattupuzha.
Three day workshop on Machine Learning Concepts and Applications was held on 14th to 16th December 2022. Dr. Shailesh Sivan, assistant professor, DCS, CUSAT was the resource person for the event. Around 50 students from Information Technology department participated in the event. The topic covered included introduction to R language, difference between machine learning and deep learning and applications of machine learning. Hands on session was held for speech to text chatbots, classification and regression
Final year students of electrical and electronics engineering department visited Koodankulam on 16th December 2022. The main focus of the industrial visit was to fill the gap between technical concept in curriculum and the industry applied concepts. The training supervisor gave an introduction about the basic working of nuclear power stations and showed the students various operations of the power plant.
Webinar on My story-motivational session by a successful innovator was held on 6th January 2023. The resource person was Mr. Sharon Biju, CEO, IT Solutions. The program was conducted with an aim to encourage and motivate students for their careers. The resource person shared with students how the idea start-up came into his is mind, the ups and downs in his life and art of running small scale industries. He motivated the students to pursue their passion and ideas through his life story.
