Universal Human Values (UHV)

 

About UHV Cell

In accordance with the directives of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), every AICTE-affiliated institution is mandated to establish a Universal Human Values (UHV) Cell at the college level.

This initiative aims to promote ethical and value-based education, fostering the holistic development of students.

The UHV Cell functions in alignment with the guidelines outlined in the AICTE reference document G911: UHV Cell, Nodal, and Resource Centres. For further details, please refer to the official AICTE document here.

Objectives / Purpose

  1. Ensure proper infrastructure and structure for the UHV Cell as per AICTE guidelines.
  2. Articulate, refine, and share the vision and educational goals, particularly those related to Universal Human Values.
  3. Define indicators or measures related to Universal Human Values goals and activities.

Activities

  1. Ensure proper teaching of UHV-I (Student Induction Program) and UHV-II (2nd year) through trained faculty members.
  2. Conduct weekly meetings of UHV Cell members along with other faculty, staff, and students interested in UHV.
  3. Develop UHV teachers through advanced UHV Faculty Development Programs (FDPs) and encourage participation in introductory UHV workshops.
  4. Organize short workshops for faculty members, staff, and students.
  5. Facilitate availability of common teaching resources such as books and study materials.
  6. Formalize evaluation criteria, exam patterns, projects, and term papers related to UHV.
  7. Maintain records and communication with concerned UHV bodies such as Nodal Centers and Regional Nodal Centers.

UHV Cell Events & Activities

1. Student Induction Program (SIP) — Universal Human Values

The UHV Cell at VJCET organized the Student Induction Program for first-year engineering students on 12th,13thand 14th August 2025. Rev. Fr. Mathew Mulangacherryil inspired students to reflect on Universal Human Values, empathy, and responsible citizenship.

2. Human Connect — Self-Exploration Session

The UHV Cell hosted a Human Connect session for S1 students on 22nd August 2025 at the R&D Seminar Hall, designed as an ice-breaking and self-exploration activity. Dr. Shunmugesh K, Convenor of the UHV Cell and HOD of the Mechanical Department, welcomed the students and delivered a talk on the importance of Universal Human Values and the role of the UHV Cell.

The student-led program encouraged interaction, teamwork, and peer bonding, helping newcomers feel comfortable in their new environment. Dr. Neenu Daniel coordinated the session, while Student Coordinators Ananthapadmanamban (S5 EC) and Neethu Cherian (CS) led the activities.

3. Talk on Media Influence in Youthfulness

On 26th September 2025, the UHV Cell organized an interactive talk for S1 students on the role of media in shaping youth. Fr. Gino Jose Punnamathathil, Chief Coordinating Officer of Rashtra Deepika Ltd., discussed both the positive and negative effects of media and encouraged students to use it responsibly and think critically. The session saw active participation from students across various branches.The event was coordinated by Ms. Swathy Venugopal, AP, CSED and Mr. Shajan P J, Technical Officer, MED.

Viswajyothi College of Engineering and Technology, Vazhakulam was established in the year 2001 and is run by the Diocesan Technical Educational Trust under the aegis of the Syro Malabar Catholic Eparchy of Kothamangalam. As a professional educational institution, it has always strived to educate engineers and professionals to the next level through innovative activities. Students from all over Kerala and abroad seek admission here because of the excellent infrastructure, well experienced faculty, separate hostel facility for ladies and gents, internet connectivity and apt learning environment. Today, Viswajyothi College has grown in name and fame.

We offer professional undergraduate programmes in eight engineering disciplines, and another undergraduate programme in Hotel Management and Catering Technology. Furthermore, we offer three postgraduate programmes in engineering disciplines, along with MBA. Presently, around 1800 students are enrolled in different courses.
